The new Dacia Lodgy MPV has been given its official world debut at the Geneva motor show today. Available as a five or seven seat MPV, the Lodgy MPV is the latest addition to the growing model range from the Renault owned Romanian brand. The line up already comprises the Duster crossover, Sandero and Sandero Stepway supermini and Logan saloon, seven seat estate, van and pick up.

Seven years ago, Renault revived the Rumanian Dacia brand by entering the first model (Logan) in the affordable segment on European markets. Dacia is part of Renault’s Gamme Entry, which also covers the Dacia models that are sold as Renault in countries such as Russia and Egypt. There, Renault uses its own brand name for the budget models, because in emerging market its image is not hurt by doing so.

Lodgy is stamped with Dacia’s trademark DNA: unbeatable value for money, reliability and practicality. Measuring 4.5 metres in length and 1.75 in width, Dacia Lodgy’s contours and proportions above all reflect its size and strength. With the grille moulded around the Dacia logo and sharp lines that highlight the sculptured wheel arches, Lodgy provides a preview of Dacia’s new corporate look. Optimal use of Lodgy’s generous external dimensions has created a roomy interior, with the result that each of its seven seats can accommodate a passenger in total comfort. The third row features class leading space in terms of knee and head room (144 and 866mm respectively), which is more than enough to seat two adults comfortably. The two rearmost seats are equipped with Isofix fittings, so that child seats and booster cushions can be attached safely and securely. Lodgy’s modular interior is particularly versatile. In seven seat configuration, the third row bench seat can be removed completely or else folded up against the front seat backs, depending on the requirements of the moment.

The new Lodge is going to play an important role in the ongoing growth of Dacia. Entering the Lodgy ‘Glace’ into ice races in France, is helping the visibility of the brand. Jean Paul Renaux, managing director of Renault Netherlands says that Dacia customers are different from Renault customers: “However, you cannot say that they have no passion for the brand, since our yearly Dacia picnic is a huge success. During the first Sunday in June, we organized the picnic for the 6th time. Some 1,750 people were present with around 600 Dacia’s. Of course, they saw the new Lodgy, that arrived a day later in the Renault Dacia showrooms.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has set the ball rolling in the sub 10lakh utility segment. Maruti has received over 35000 bookings and this spells trouble for the Toyota Innova which up till now has had a dream run. The Ertiga’s success has prompted Honda to consider launching their Freed utility vehicle but the problem with the Freed right now is the lack of a diesel engine. If the Freed is launched in 2014 it gives Honda the time to launch it with a diesel engine. Renault is another manufacturer looking to break into this segment and their answer could lie with the Dacia Lodgy which is basically the Logan. Indians have bad memories associated the Logan but if Renault can market the Lodgy smartly backed with strong promotion, the Lodgy could succeed. The Lodgy debuted at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and the manufacturer says that its name has been derived from the English word ’lodge’, referring to the model’s ability to ferry a family.

Now the latest news coming from Dacia 2012 Lodgy stamped with unbeatable value for reliability, practicality and money. Dacia Lodgy has a length of 4.5 meters and 1.75 meters wide, contour and propositions on the Dacia Lodgy reflects the strength and size. Lattice grating is formed on the logo area and sculptured wheel arches stand out in sharp outline form.

2013 Dacia Lodgy Glace is the rebellious little sister of the new family road car. The new Dacia Lodgy MPV has been unveiled two months ahead of its official world debut at the Geneva motor show.

2013 Renault Dacia Lodgy Exterior :
With a length of just over 177 inches, the Lodgy really suits people who need a large and economical family car. It offers huge luggage space of 29 cu ft., which that can be extended to 92 cu ft. Mr. Jeager continued: “Our business model is aimed at offering the best quality/price relationship. We work with net prices and a low margin. This means there is no room for deals. But chasing more stars in the EuroNCap, such as for improved pedestrian safety, is a costly affair. This does not only increase the prices of the cars, but also increases the weight. 2013 Renault Dacia Lodgy Engine :
Driving the Lodgy proved to be a surprise. Do not expect luxury equipment such as power seats and the latest technology. But finding the right position behind the steering wheel is easy, the seat is excellent. In the cabin you may not expect more than hard plastic, but the build quality is really o.k. ABS with emergency stop and ESP with traction control are standard on all variants, while suspension and engines come from well known Renault models. For instance, the 1.2 liter TCe petrol engine recently made its debut in the renewed Mégane.

On the bad Moroccan roads, the suspension performs well and evens out the potholes and bumps. But the comfortable ride has some body roll in corners as a down side. Comfort is enhanced by a low noise level, thanks to good sound insulation. Steering is good and obedient, while the engines I drove all variants perform well. We had to make several emergency stops, that proved the braking is also good. The two petrol engines on the Renault Lodgy are the 1.6-litre MPI and the new turbocharged direct fuel injection engine producing 115PS. The direct injection engine represents Renault best petrol engine technology yet and has received strong reviews for being refined and fuel efficient. There will also be a diesel engine delivering 90PS and another producing110PS.

Dacia Lodgy is available with a selection of petrol and diesel engines that will suit the needs of customers in all the countries where the model is marketed. There are two petrol engines: the 1.6 MPI and the new, turbocharged TCe 115 with direct fuel injection. The TCe 115 represents the Renault Group’s very best petrol engine technology, including the turbocharged, direct-injection combination first introduced with the Mégane and Scénic Collection 2012 line-ups. With its 1.2 litre capacity, but the kind of performance more usually associated with a 1.6, the TCe 115 combines an impressive driving experience with excellent fuel economy and low CO2 emissions. There are also two diesels, both based on the 1.5 dCi block that has received worldwide acclaim for its reliability and performance. The dCi 90 and dCi 110 powerplants qualify for the Dacia eco² signature a symbol of low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Renault UK has yet to decide whether to bring right-hand-drive versions of the Lodgy MPV to these shores, but it’s possible that the model could join the Duster and all new Sandero after their January 2013 launches. The Duster and Sandero, which will be sold through Renault UK dealers, are expected to be offered with a 1.6 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel engines, and the Lodgy MPV could get the same powerplants.
