2013 Toyota GT 86 | Review, Price, Interior, Exterior, Engine. – Now, Toyota’s eagerly awaited, compact 2+2 sports car, the GT 86, makes its European debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. On sale throughout Europe in the summer of 2012, the Toyota GT 86 is an entirely driver oriented vehicle. It gives form to the pure, intrinsic joy of driving through precise, instantaneous response to even the smallest throttle or steering inputs, for those who regard driving as a passion rather than a necessity.

With a low, highly aerodynamic bodyshell stretched tight over the engineering hard points, the new GT 86 is based on an entirely new platform. Shunning a heavy, large displacement powertrain for its performance, the GT 86 returns to Toyota’s sporting roots with the world’s only combination of a compact, front mounted, free revving, horizontally opposed ‘boxer’ petrol engine and rear wheel drive.

This unique powertrain format combines with the world’s most compact four seat design, light weight, low inertia and a low centre of gravity for the best possible power to weight ratio. These attributes award the GT 86 lively, accessible performance, highly engaging, readily exploitable dynamic abilities with minimal electronic intrusion, and maximum driving pleasure.

The new GT 86 is based on an entirely new platform and features a low, highly aerodynamic bodyshell. It is powered by the same engine as its Subaru sibling a 2.0 liter, naturally aspirated petrol engine but will only deliver 200 HP as opposed to Subaru’s promised 300 HP. That being said, the base BRZ will come with the same 200 HP that the new GT-86 is sporting, bringing these two models closer than originally anticipated. Subaru’s promised 300 HP will be present in the STI version, leading us to believe that a G-Sports variant for the GT-86 will bring forth the same amount of power. This borrowed engine will be mated to either a six speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.

2013 Toyota GT 86 Price :
2013 Toyota GT 86 Price. – The pricing for the car has varied just about every time news about it comes out. It was first reported that it was going to have a price tag of somewhere around $20,000, but recent reports have come out stating that the sports coupe could come at slightly more than $25,000. Either way, 25 grand for a revolutionary new sports coupe from Toyota sounds a lot like a bargain.

2013 Toyota GT 86 Interior :
2013 Toyota GT 86 Interior. – The GT-86’s interior is as sporty as its outside with a flat bottomed steering wheel with its very own red stitching. It measures only 365 mm, the smallest yet fitted to a Toyota and has been finished in buckskin finish. In addition to that, the GT-86 also has aluminum pedals, a navigation system, gauges that light with red neon, digital readouts, and a gray instrument panel that seamlessly molds into the darker dash. The car’s cockpit is further reinforced by carbon effect trim, a sporting, all black roof lining, red upholstery stitching, and aviation style rocker switchgear. It comes with a large tachometer that offers at a glance visibility and readability during sports driving. The front seat has also been designed to offer great comfort, as well as to prevent elbows from interfering with gearshift operation.

2013 Toyota GT 86 Exterior :
2013 Toyota GT 86 Exterior. – Despite the long wait, we still have to give the new GT 86 the prize for the most beautiful sports car of the year. Not only is it a sports car, but it also combines elegance with beauty and aggressiveness. Those that fell in love with the design of the concept will rejoice in the fact that not much has changed for the production model. The car’s overall shape and design was inspired by the Corolla based AE86 sports coupe that was unveiled in the 80s. The GT-86 is a compact rear wheel drive sports coupe with an aerodynamic body that rides low to the ground to improve handling and allow it to cut through the air with ease. The fascia is completely aggressive with long slit-looking headlights giving it a mean and intimidating look, as well as an enlarged lower grille and a bold “Scorpion” styling to the lower grille.

2013 Toyota GT 86 Engine :
2013 Toyota GT 86 Engine. – With the sheet finally pulled, the Toyota/Scion/Subaru car’s details come into better focus. We now know that, at least in the U.K., the 2.0-liter Subaru flat-four with Toyota’s combination direct-and-port injection will make 200 hp at 7000 rpm and 151 lb-ft of torque at 6600 rpm using premium fuel. The engine has a 12.5:1 compression ratio and is square, with bore and stroke both measuring 86.0 mm. Two Aisin-supplied six-speed transmissions will be offered: a short-throw manual and a paddle-shifted automatic. The automatic will have Normal, Snow, and Sport modes. A limited-slip differential will be standard, as will 17-inch wheels. Toyota says its offering will have “switchable vehicle-stability systems”; we hope one of the positions is “off.”

The U.K. model will have a length of 166.9 inches, a height of 50.6, and a width of 69.9. The wheelbase measures 101.2 inches. Toyota calls the GT 86 “the world’s most compact four-seat design” and while that seems like hyperbole, the vehicle is indeed small; the GT 86’s shadow is smaller than that of a Porsche Cayman, with a shorter overall length but a longer wheelbase. With a claimed 53/47 front to rear weight split, the GT 86 also comes closer than a Cayman R (45/55) to perfect balance, and the Toyota’s center of gravity height is nearly as low (18.1 inches versus 18.0 in our testing of the Cayman R). We mention the Cayman because it’s one of the vehicles Subaru targeted when developing the joint project. A Subaru BRZ prototype we drove left us suitably impressed.

The beautiful 2000GT, a 2.0 litre straight-six-powered coupe first displayed at the 1965 Tokyo Motor Show, helped establish the company’s global reputation as a sports car manufacturer. Even now, its styling appears sophisticated, cool and fresh. During the development of the GT 86, a 2000GT was put next to the clay model of new sports car being developed by the designers. Without receiving any specific instructions, the designers continued their work, occasionally looking at the 2000GT. As a result, their work infused the Toyota GT 86 with the spirit of the 2000GT without imitating it. From the AE86, the GT 86 inherits not its hardware, but its spirit. The AE86 was not an extreme sports car. It was moderately priced, with a mass produced engine and a compact, front engine, rear wheel drive body.
