It has been rumored that Volkswagen will be bringing the seventh generation Golf to the 2012 Paris Auto Show in the Fall. The new Golf VII will be completely different, built on a new platform and sourced with more powerful engines. Volkswagen really needs this generation Golf to take off, after the sixth generation flopped and had to be redone after only three years on the market.

The new Golf will be built on the company’s new MQB platform and will be longer and wider compared to the current generation. Expect to see some exterior changes as well, although they won’t be very significant because Volkswagen will want to keep its typical Golf formula. The GTI version will also be a bit more aggressive than the current generation and will get a modified front bumper, new headlamps, and other minor tweaks here and there.

Volkswagen’s Golf hatchback along with its sporty GTI and high performance Golf R variants has a look and style that remains unmistakable among hatchbacks. And while it might have in many respects been a trendsetter over the long haul, the market for small, sporty hatchbacks is finally hitting the mainstream, with the Ford Focus, Mazda3, and Subaru Impreza hatchbacks, along with the Kia Forte and Hyundai Elantra GT, appealing to more than a narrow niche.

2013 Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI Price :
Pricing for the new 2013 Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI has been set at $17,995 to $24,935 based on current exchange rates. If there are changes on the 2013 Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI we will notify you as soon as possible, so keep follow our blog.

If you spring for the base model Golf, which starts at less than $19k, you should be aware that the base 170 hp five cylinder engine is perky, but not all that refined or fuel efficient. The best model in the standard Golf lineup is the TDI, with its excellent and very torquey clean diesel turbo four cylinder engine, available DSG dual clutch transmission, and an EPA highway rating of 42 mpg, but that it’s essentially priced as a premium vehicle, with a sticker price that starts more than $6,000 higher than the base gasoline Golf. The sporty GTI actually starts at a lower price than the TDI, and it’s a blast to drive in its own right, as it includes all sorts of upgrades, in addition to VW’s flexible and smooth 200 hp, 2.0 liter TSI gasoline four.

2013 Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI Interior :
The interior of the cabin doesn’t hold any surprises as it has the usual red stitching, a three spoke flattened steering wheel, the gear knob in golf ball design and the black roof lining. There’s also a special instrument cluster with a color display and chronograph style instruments. Other features include aluminum pedals and red ambient lightning.

The Golf itself might not impress as quite as plush for the dollar as some of the newest Korean cars, but it has all the features and modern conveniences to distance itself from any econo car roots. TDI versions add an LCD interface for the audio system; satellite radio and a CD changer, steering wheel audio controls; and Bluetooth. On the GTI, there are a few more standard features like heated side mirrors, a sport steering wheel, 18 inch ‘Detroit’ alloy wheels, and a series of other appearance upgrades inside and out. A sunroof and touch screen navigation are offered, but the Golf doesn’t include Bluetooth at the base level and even at the upper end of the model line it’s missing the active safety options that have become available on some models, even in this class.

2013 Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI Exterior :
As far as the design is concerned, this GTI concept gets a honeycomb radiator grille with a red line in typical GTI style, along with twin chrome exhaust pipes and LED taillights. Compared to the standard Golf VII, the hotter version has been lowered by 15mm and comes with red brake calipers and the usual array of GTI wheels: Denver, Detroit and Glendale, offered in 17 or 18 inch sizes. It can also be fitted with the updated Brooklyn alloys.

When it arrives in the first half of 2013, the new GTI will only have 220 hp or at best 230 if you go for a special pack. Hot hatch fans will already know just how much more powerful its old rivals are Megane RS has 265 hp, Ford Focus ST III has 250 hp and the Opel Astra OPC has a massive 280 hp.

We’ve already showed you the three door concept for the MkVII Golf GTI a few days ago, and now we have video footage by Marchettino of the five door version. We know that this more practical version will be preferred by customers over the 3 door. The concept is shod in Laser Blue Metallic, an old favorite with Golf fans and appears to have 18 inch wheels that are a fresh take on the old Monza rim.

2013 Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI Engine :
Volkswagen will place more powerful engines under the hood of the new Golf, although the exact specs on most of the engines have yet to be divulged. For the GTI, Volkswagen will most likely offer a new 2.0 liter four cylinder that will deliver up to 260 HP. So, if the rumors are true, the new generation Golf GTI will offer an increase of 60 HP over the current generation (50 HP for the European model).

Now, British magazine, has caught wind of some new details on the upcoming GTI version of the future generation Golf. The car will sit about 30mm lower than the current version, while the wheelbase will be around 50mm longer. At the front, the new Golf GTI will continue the design language of the sixth generation, but will add new front and rear spoilers and new red piping interlaced into the headlamps. Under the hood, Volkswagen will place an updated version of the 2.0 liter four cylinder engine, so expect an output of about 260 HP. The sprint from 0 to 62mph will take just 6.7 seconds and top speed will be 153mph. The official debut of the Volkswagen Golf VII GTI will be made in 2013 at the Geneva Motor Show.

At the heart of the hot hatch is a 2.0 liter TFSI turbo engine with 220 hp (164 kW), but Volkswagen will offer an optional performance package that will increase the output of the engine to 230 hp (171 kW). It has a peak torque of 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) and promises to provide a fuel consumption of 6.6 liters / 100 km (35.6 mpg US or 42.8 mpg UK). The Golf VII GTI needs 6.6 seconds to perform the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint and can hit a top speed of 152 mph (246 km/h). Fitted with the performance package, it does the sprint 0.1 quicker and reaches 155 mph (250 km/h).
