The 2013 Volvo S60 ranks 10 out of 20 Upscale Midsize Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of 28 published reviews and test drives of the Volvo S60, and our analysis of reliability and safety data. With adept performance and attractive interior and exterior styling, critics agree that the 2013 Volvo S60 is a compelling alternative to rival European sedans.

The 2013 Volvo S60 is available with turbocharged five and six cylinder engines, and reviewers say that the S60 offers competitive power, no matter which model you choose. A six speed automatic transmission is standard, and while most auto writers have few complaints, a handful note that rivals like the Audi A4 and BMW 328i have more gears. The S60 gets up to 21/30 mpg city/highway, which is good for the class, although rivals like the A4 and 328i use less fuel. Most test drivers say that the S60 offers poised, if slightly firm, handling, which makes it fairly capable on twisty mountain roads. Still, one reviewer comments that the S60 is not as agile as the most athletic sport sedans in the class, while another says that its ride doesn’t absorb bumps as well as some comfort tuned family sedans.

The Volvo S60 appears to be a lot of things that Volvo never used to be. But at the same time you might say it’s a brawny, good looking, and handsome model for what Volvo is becoming. As such, the S60 lineup is design centric inside and out, with class leading safety, as well as performance that keeps up with some of the top sport sedans even if it isn’t quite as sharply honed. And underneath it all, yes, there are still the leading edge safety features that has differentiated the brand all along.

For 2013, Volvo has made tweaks to the engine and transmission of the T5 model. Power output for the 2.5 liter engine remains the same, but Volvo says the T5’s 0-60 mph time is nearly half a second quicker this year. All wheel drive is a new option for the T5 as well. Other changes this year include revised option packages as well as more standard features. The latter include automatic wipers and headlight washers for all trims as well as keyless ignition/entry and a sunroof for the T6.

2013 Volvo S60 Price :
Pricing for the new 2013 Volvo S60 has been set at  $31,900–$46,800 based on current exchange rates. If there are changes on the 2013 Volvo S60 we will notify you as soon as possible, so keep follow our blog.

From a base front wheel drive T5 model at less than $33,000, to a loaded S60 R-Design Platinum, which when loaded can approach $55k, the 2013 S60 spans a wide range, appealing as a safe, comfortable, tech oriented sedan to some shoppers or a powerful sport sedan with some of the latest infotainment, convenience, and active safety features to others. Overall, Volvo has changed the way that S60 models are equipped for 2013; they still come in T5, T6, and R-Design models, but Premier, Premier Plus, and Platinum guises determine the level of extras. Don’t worry, there are still a few standalone options as well.

2013 Volvo S60 Interior :
The Volvo S60 comes with standard features that include dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth, satellite radio, USB iPod integration, an auxiliary input jack and HD Radio. Volvo’s Sensus infotainment system also comes standard. Navigation, a rearview camera, heated seats and a premium sound system are optional. A number of driver assistance systems are available, including adaptive cruise control, as well as collision warning, pedestrian detection and lane departure warning systems.

Interior materials in the 2013 Volvo S60 are on par with the rest of the entry level luxury sedan class. The heavier graining on the dash and doors won’t suit everyone, but there’s no denying that the interior leather, vinyl and plastic are quality materials. Volvo’s unique take on wood and metal accents also gives the S60’s cabin more personality than most rivals.

Test drivers like that the S60’s climate controls are simple, and one test driver also gives the optional navigation system positive marks for its route guidance technology, which helped him avoid congested roadways. However, more than one reviewer writes that the S60’s infotainment system isn’t the easiest to use.

The T5 comes standard with 17 inch wheels, automatic headlights, headlight washers, heated mirrors, automatic wipers, cruise control, dual zone automatic climate control, an eight way power driver seat with memory functions and adjustable lumbar, power folding rear headrests, a leather wrapped tilt and telescoping steering wheel, T-Tec cloth upholstery, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity and an eight speaker sound system with a CD player, HD radio, satellite radio, an auxiliary audio jack and an iPod/USB audio interface.

The Premier package includes keyless ignition/entry, a sunroof, leather upholstery, a power passenger seat and an auto dimming rearview mirror. Premier Plus adds active bi xenon headlights, front and rear parking sensors and a compass. The Platinum package further adds a 12 speaker premium sound system (with DVD player), a navigation system and a rearview camera. The Climate package includes heated front seats, heated windshield washers and an active cabin filter.

The S60 has room for five on front bucket seats and a 60/40-split folding backseat. Fabric upholstery is standard and leather seats are available. The front passenger seat folds flat to make it easier to carry long items. The S60 also features Volvo’s floating center control panel that can be finished in aluminum or wood. Interior features include :
>. Standard dual zone automatic climate control.
>. Standard CD stereo with an auxiliary jack.
>. Standard Bluetooth with streaming audio.
>. Standard satellite radio.
>. Available embossed sport seats and blue instrumentation (R-Design).
>. Available dual screen rear entertainment system.

2013 Volvo S60 Exterior :
The front seats in the 2013 Volvo S60 are universally praised for being comfortable and supportive, though a handful of test drivers say that they could use more side bolstering on spirited drives. However, a few reviewers compare the back seat to those found in the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, saying that head  and legroom are in short supply. While that complaint isn’t uncommon for the class, rivals like the Acura TL have a back seat that reviewers find more comfortable. Leather seats are available on higher trims, while heated front and rear seats are optional.

Volvo’s Swedish design ethos really shows inside, where the brand has taken textured surfaces and contrasting hues to a new level. Unique wood and metal detailing, along with the captivating floating center stack, really set a design direction inside. Up close it’s stark and simple, yet somehow welcoming, with a dash material modeled after the rippled surface of water, and the two-tone elements extending to the upholstery, instrument panel, and material textures.

The top performance R-Design model sets an even more aggressive look inside and out. From the outside, the 2013 S60 R Design model somehow manages to make it look even more aggressive, with a rear diffuser, sport tailpipes, a spoiler, special wheels, and other R Design elements. The R Design gets its own theme, with a unique steering wheel, upholstery, and other trim items adding to the more track oriented look.

The redesigned S60 was the latest Volvo to distance the brand from its boxy designs of old. Overall, the S60’s compact stance, flowing lines and low roofline make for a stylish luxury car. Exterior features include :
>. 17 inch alloy wheels standard.
>. Available 18 inch rims.
>. Available moonroof.
>. Available adaptive xenon high intensity discharge headlights.

2013 Volvo S60 Engine :
Performance wise, the S60 has its sights set somewhere between the likes of the Acura TSX, the Audi A4, and the BMW 3-Series. Now in the S60’s third year, Volvo is rolling out yet more members of the S60 lineup, this time, all wheel drive is offered in the base T5, making it available with any of the engines. Also new for 2013 is a retuned version of the base turbo five, with a higher compression ratio and peak turbo boost raised 15 percent.

Last year Volvo rolled out an S60 R-Design model aimed at those who might just take their Volvo on the track once in a while. It offered a long list of performance upgrades, most importantly ‘chipping’ the T6 models’ 300 hp, 3.0 liter turbocharged in line six cylinder engine up to 325 hp. In both the S60 T6 and R-Design models, the engine is smooth, strong, and sweet sounding, with an uninterrupted rush of power when you need it. The only disappointment here is the six speed automatic transmission, which doesn’t always respond as quickly as you might hope for a sport sedan and it lacks full manual control and paddle shifters. It’s also worth pointing out that while the S60 is a blast to drive in T6 or even R-Design forms, it just doesn’t feel quite as sharp as focused enthusiast sedans like the Nissan G37 or BMW 3-Series.

The S60 T6 gets a 3.0 liter turbocharged in line six cylinder, rated at 300 horsepower and 325 pound feet of torque. It feels even stronger than its numbers might suggest, and while it’s disappointing that there’s no manual gearbox available the six speed automatic transmission and all wheel drive pair for easy driving, fast acceleration, confident traction and great all weather capability. These models can get to 60 mph in about 5.8 seconds.

the 2013 Volvo S60 is not without its exciting side, as all three engines offered in the lineup provide a turbocharged kick. Said kick ranges from 250-325 horses and these turbocharged five and six cylinder engines boast not only spirited acceleration but also good fuel economy numbers. For this year, Volvo has revised the T5’s 2.5 liter engine, introducing a higher compression ratio and reduced internal friction. Volvo also adjusted the way the T5’s transmission shifts in Sport mode. Official rated output still stands at 250 horsepower, but Volvo claims the T5 now has a 0.4 second quicker 0-60 mph time than last year.

The 2013 Volvo S60 T5 has a 2.5 liter turbocharged inline-5 engine that produces 250 hp and 266 pound feet of torque. A six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive are standard. All wheel drive is optional. Volvo estimates that the T5 accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds (6.6 with AWD). Estimated fuel economy is 21 mpg city/30 mpg highway and 24 mpg combined (20/29/23 with AWD) pretty thrifty given this powertrain’s performance.
