2014 Chevrolet Impala Review | Price, Interior, Exterior, EngineRevealed at the New York International Auto Show, the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Impala is intended to deliver expressive style, cabin refinement, and high technology that’s easy to use. When it goes on sale in early 2013, the 2014 Impala will represent the 10th generation of one of the industry’s most enduring nameplates. The upcoming Impala will feature a stylish coupe-like design. Design has recently become especially important in the full-size sedan segment, a once-vast market niche that has, in recent years, been dominated by stodgy and dated designs. Nowhere is the shift away from stodginess toward expressive design more apparent than with the introduction of the 2014 Impala.

There was a time, back in the 1960s and early ’70s, when Impala was America’s best-selling nameplate, reaching a one-time peak of more than a million vehicles a year. In more recent times, the Chevy sedan hasn’t fared as well, but the maker is hoping to make some headway with the redesign that bears more than a subtle similarity to the striking Audi A7, though at a fraction of the price. The goal was to create a car inside and out that looks much more lavish and high-quality than the flabby rent-a-car Impala buyers have come to know. The upcoming Impala features some high-end design cues, such as the coupe-like roofline. Unlike the Audi, Impala doesn’t get a hatchback. Impala has been influenced by the recently redesigned Chevy Malibu, with similar exterior and interior design details, such as the pop-up LCD screen concealing a hidden cubbyhole that can be used to store a cellphone or MP3 player.

The fully redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Impala looks to claw back some of its legacy. It gets sharp new lines and body creases, with a vaguely Camaro-esque face, and a range of 18-, 19- and 20-inch wheels. Xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights come standard on LTZ models. The new Impala rides on about a 1-inch longer wheelbase, and overall length gains about an inch as well.

Chevrolet Impala Interior & Exterior :
Chevrolet Impala Interior & Exterior. | The Impala’s renewed platform, related to the one underpinning the 2013 Cadillac XTS, is said to offer a higher-quality feel, a stiffer body structure, and a more controlled ride. Four-cylinder models will sport active noise cancellation, like Chevy’s Equinox, and other models will also have additional sound suppression to make the new Impala the quietest big Chevy sedan ever, GM promises.

While other big sedans have marched ahead in safety scores and equipment, today’s Impala has lagged. That changes with the 2013 model, which adopts a whole range of new technology for active and passive protection, everything from ten airbags in all, to standard OnStar, and a suite of available advanced features like blind spot monitors; lane-departure warning system; adaptive cruise control; rearview camera; rear parking assists; and forward collision alerts.

Along with the safety technology, the Impala’s infotainment systems get a thorough upgrade. Bluetooth audio streaming is now offered, as is navigation. Chevy’s MyLink system controls the secondary features via an eight-inch touchscreen LCD.

Chevrolet Impala Engine :
Chevrolet Impala Engine. | The engine lineup has three naturally aspirated, direct-injected suspects: a carry-over 3.6-liter V-6 the only engine available in the outgoing car a 2.5-liter four, and an eAssisted 2.4-liter four. The six now makes three additional horsepower and two more lb-ft of torque (for totals of 303 and 264) which Chevy claims will propel the new Impala from 0-60 in 6.8 seconds while the 2.5 delivers 195 hp and 187 lb-ft of torque. The 2.4-liter and its mild hybrid setup are good for 182 hp and 172 lb-ft. In V-6 trim, the new car weighs roughly 150 pounds more than the previous one, so don’t expect six-pot mileage to move up from the previous 18 mpg city/30 highway. The other engines will be more miserly. Chevy says the eAssist will get 35 mpg on the highway. All three engines will hook to a six-speed automatic. Source: caranddriver.com.
