The Tremor does do a decent job looking the part. Available only in short-wheelbase, regular cab configuration with your choice of two- or four-wheel drive, it struts around wearing the F-150’s FX Appearance Package, flat black accents, 20-inch black wheels, HID headlights and a special exterior graphics package. The first “sport” truck to get the powertrain, according to Ford, the Tremor is configured with the F-150’s regular-cab body style, with a 126-inch wheelbase and the shorter pickup bed. Both rear- and four-wheel-drive versions are offered. The Tremor weighs in at about 5,000 pounds, and comes with a 4.10 rear axle and an electronically controlled locking rear differential, for maximum power extraction from the EcoBoost V-6, Ford says.

On the exterior of the 2014 SVT Raptor Special Edition, you start off with all of the base Raptor’s equipment, plus all that the Raptor Luxury Package adds in, which includes only HID headlights. The newcomer is the Ford Motor Company’s [NYSE:F] first EcoBoost-powered F-150 with the short-wheelbase, regular-cab design, and is aimed at buyers looking for a potent sport truck with decent fuel economy.
Under the hood is the familiar 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, which combines direct injection, variable cam timing and turbocharging technologies to help deliver 365 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque. Our favorite attribute is the torque band: 90 percent of peak torque is available from 1,700 to 5,000 rpm.
Fuel economy is said to be 16/22 mpg city/highway, for the rear-wheel-drive model. Opting for four-wheel drive will diminish those figures slightly. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic and a launch-optimized 4.10 rear axle the shortest final drive ratio offered in an EcoBoosted F-150. An electronic rear differential is also fitted as standard.
The Tremor packs big power into a regular-cab, full-size pickup package. Unlike those vehicles, however, that power doesn’t come from a V-8 engine. The F-150 SVT Raptor will only be offered with a 6.2-liter V8 engine, which offers 434lb-ft of torque and 411 horses under the hood. There’s also a 6-speed auto transmission that is accompanied by a tow and haul mode, as well as SelectShift Automatic technology. The truck is 4-wheel-drive and boasts electronic shifting. Because it is a 4WD model, it will also feature a Torsen limited-slip differential.
