2015 Cadillac XTS Interior

Cadillac decided for a strong, elegant design, which offers the right resorts and features for both the back and front passengers. Based on the cut level, customers will get a full-leather interior with micro-fiber sueded headliner, as well as top quality wood cut on the leader, system, center collection, device board and door panels.

The Art & Science themes that we’ve been seeing in Cadillac models for years continue here, but there’s a swoopier look and softer details overall. The XTS’s instrument panel and interior trims look like those of no other GM vehicle (they closely follow the look of the XTS Platinum Concept first shown at the 2010 Detroit auto show). And overall, we’re very impressed by the combination of beveled, metallic trim pieces, fitting tightly against smooth contouring a feat of fit and finish, really.

One of the elements of the XTS’s leading-edge feature set is noteworthy in and of itself, from a design standpoint. At the center of the XTS’s instrument panel sits an eight-inch, fully capacitive touch screen like what’s used in iPads and other tablets. It’s part of the Cadillac User Experience (CUE), which comes standard and cleans up the look, removing many physical buttons. There aren’t any real gauges either in many XTS models just simulated ones on a separate reconfigurable screen in front of the driver.

Also included is CUE, a capacitive touch-screen-based system. It has the first use of proximity and gestural sensing, which allows the system to show more menu options only as your hand approaches. It’s one of the most attractive, most intuitively laid-out interfaces yet, but it’s not without issues. We appreciated how the system has a depth of customization possibilities once you get into the submenus, yet on the surface it simplifies the choices. You can simply say things like “Take me to Starbucks,” or “Let’s go to Starbucks,” which some people will find refreshing, as you don’t need to learn nested commands or particular words. Screen scrolling is smooth and glitch-free, and the live-traffic features that have been cause for frustration in so many other vehicles seemed to work flawlessly here, with good detail.

Intellibeam headlamps and a new front-seat memory feature are also among the new items.

The five-seat 2015 Cadillac XTS comes with a new OnStar 4G LTE system with a built-in Wi-Fi hot spot and a 3GB/month trial data subscription for 90 days. An eight-speaker Bose sound system, satellite radio, Bluetooth, push-button start and Cadillac’s CUE infotainment system with an 8-inch touch-screen display also come standard. A 14-speaker Bose surround-sound audio system, a rear-seat entertainment system, a heated steering wheel, a power sunroof, new 22-way power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats with massage, forward collision alert, side blind zone alert and a newly available lane keep assist system are optional.

The Cadillac XTS 2015 will also get other new functions such as 22 way power flexible front side chairs that now provide warming, air flow and massage, and also new arm rests with stereo for back travelers. 2015 Cadillac XTS Engine

While the 2015 Cadillac XTS may not directly target the performance side of the luxury market, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a slouch. And, with last year’s introduction of a twin-turbocharged V-6 Vsport edition, the XTS certainly won’t disappoint those who just want a little extra acceleration.

The 304-hp, 3.6-liter V-6 that’s under the hood of most XTS models is very smooth; it starts with nary a shudder and settles to a glassy idle. It doesn’t churn out low-rpm torque like some rival V-6 engines, but delivery is smooth and predictable through the six-speed automatic transmission, with either front- or all-wheel drive. And with a 0-60 mph time of 6.8 seconds and a (limited) top speed of 136 mph, it’s reasonably quick.

There’s also the so called Twin Power V-6 a twin-turbocharged, 3.6-liter, making 410 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. According to GM, it’s one of the most power-dense six-cylinder engines on the planet. This engine makes its peak torque from 1,900 all the way up to 5,600 rpm, and it brings a quickness and easy driving character that’s every bit as good as V-8s of a few years ago.
