The front fascia has been turned modish with trendy fog lamps and sporty roof rails. Although the wheel size has been decreased from 16” to 15” in Quanto, the car still sits tall and gets a bit inelegant, seems like Mahindra was looking for comfort than design and appeal. The Quanto gets all new D pillars, wrapped around tail lamps and the there is spare wheel that is surmounted on the tail gate at the rear end which fulfills the mini-SUV philosophy. Moving towards the rear end the similarities between Xylo and Quanto are numerous, just the tail of the compact SUV is different where the Xylo’s large rear windows and bumper has been replaced with the quarter glass and the overhanged spare wheel tyre.

The newly launched compact SUV Mahindra Quanto is acclaimed and has been in news for two vital aspects. One is its bold n brilliant exterior design, despite being less than 4 meter; other is offing of some really juicy stuffing of features inside the cabin. Though there are many, but some tempting ones are elegant rear spare wheel cover, contoured tail lights, fog lamps, sporty roof rails and chrome strips on side body mouldings on the exteriors. Renault Mahindra Quanto Exterior :
The Mahindra Quanto is based on the Xylo and 3/4th of the vehicle looks exactly like the Xylo, with minor changes to the grille. The front looks like a mix between the refreshed Xylo and the older Xylo. In profile it looks a little too tall, and the 15 inch wheels with 205/65 tyres seem slightly small for it, giving it an ungainly stance. At the rear, the high set tail lamps, and spare wheel mounted on the rear door try to make it look like an SUV, but it isn’t that attractive really.

The Renault Duster on the other hand is all about looks it looks like a muscular SUV with the flared fenders, large chrome grille, double barrel headlamps and high ground clearance. In profile, the Duster is not as tall as the Quanto and looks quite sleek. From the rear as well, the flared fenders and wide body of the Duster look more purposeful. “The Duster is a unique product for India. Duster line has been running one shift, two shifts in August, starting three shifts in September. We are increasing the output specifically on Duster,” Nassif further added.

Positioned as the most price competitive SUV in the country with a starting price of Rs 7.2 lakh, the Duster already boasts of an order book in excess of 15,000 units. The waiting period too is over six months. Heady with the success of the XUV 500 M&M’s Quanto is likely to be priced at sub Rs 8 lakh promising to give the discerning Indian consumer plenty of choice and shake up the SUV segment.
